In this 32-minute History Highlights Series online video presentation, historian Bill Wiemuth shares the highlights of the fascinating winter that the Lewis and Clark Expedition spent near the mouth of the Columbia River at the Pacific Ocean. They had traveled more than 4,000 miles from St. Louis. It had already been a year and a half since their departure. During a difficult winter near the Pacific Ocean, the members faced an array of challenges and experienced bizarre events as they prepared for their dramatic return journey back across the continent.
